Tenet’s Legal Excellence Awards Shortlisting

Tenet’s founder – Arun Chauhan – has been shortlisted in the Law Society’s Legal Excellence Awards for Sole Practitioner of the Year 2019.

Tenet Compliance & Litigation was founded as a law firm set to do things differently. It now enables greater access to high-quality, specialist, counter-fraud advice from a workplace which prioritises family values.

The different way Tenet operates

In founding Tenet, Arun wanted to demonstrate a fairer way to practice his area of expertise.

Be it for charities, housing associations or SMEs, the costs of national or international firms were often prohibitive for them to obtain advice on fraud prevention or investigation. Tenet provides experienced advice – holding its own against national law firms – at a more affordable price.

Traditional legal practices rarely offer part-time or flexible working practices which many lawyers with family commitments need. Arun realised former colleagues, who left the profession to have children, struggled to find part-time roles in firms dealing with complex work. This meant risking turning their back on years of study and training simply because they couldn’t find an employment opportunity which fitted with family life.

This meant highly-skilled talent was being lost from the legal sector.

Being part of a young family himself, Arun understands the demands of parental stretch and wanted to help his team accommodate their work to fit with family life.

As Tenet grew, flexible working and sole focus on work output for clients were core to its approach.

This focus meant no fees targets, chargeable hours targets or cash collection targets for any fee earner.  That enabled Tenet’s team to focus on delivering work without concern or pressure of presenteeism or personal targets. That not only increased employee morale but also client satisfaction. This is testament to how Tenet has grown from Arun to a team of 10, mostly due to client recommendation and referral.

Tenet team members were able to return to a specialist, high level, counter-fraud practice working the hours and at the places to suit them and their families while still very much part of a committed team.

This different and fresh approach means the Tenet team enjoys high morale and works with delighted clients who feel the benefit of specialist legal advice with cost efficiencies in working this way.

Thanks to Tenet’s team

Arun’s shortlisting is testament to the Tenet’s team hard, high calibre work and those who supported the team along the way.
